Week 11

Hola!

I'm so excited that it's December - we are all feeling festive here, especially this week as all the lights have been switched on in Valladolid so it looks very Christmassy here. Spain do things a lot later in terms of Christmas, but it has been nice being here to see it all happen.

The week was quite normal - we had uni during the week, and it was our last week of the gym before we go home for Christmas so we made the most of it. As its a monthly membership, we decided not to sign up for December as we are only here for two weeks of the month, so we will go back in January. We hadn't been to the gym for a while but I always feel good after going so we went three times during the week!

Thursday night, Niamh made me cut her hair - she decided she wanted to go shorter and threatened to do it herself if I didn't! Then we were up until late learning the Charleston!

We had a really festive weekend - on Friday we went for a drink with Nathan and Aine after our lecture which was nice, and then me and Niamh went shopping for the afternoon which was really nice - we both bought some clothes and then we went to Tiger and got some Christmas headbands! In the evening we all went to Nathan's flat to watch the Late Late Toy Show which is an Irish television show and apparently really popular. We had a really nice night - we didn't get home until 3am!

On Saturday I went to the Rio Shopping Centre with Aine and Nathan. They had a big Christmas tree up and a Santa's Grotto which was really cute! We had a nice afternoon there, and then in the evening we all went to the light switch on in the Plaza Mayor. They did a light display and had market stalls selling food etc. The best bit was the gospel choir, which stood on the balcony and they were singing songs from Sister Act, Queen etc. We went for churros afterwards -I hadn't tried them before so I tried one as it is a very Spanish food.

On Sunday I went with Hannah and Nathan to a café to do our Italian homework, and then everyone came to ours to watch Elf and play card games. The above photo is Hannah with the puppy in the café that looked like the Andrex puppy! So it was a very busy and festive weekend! We have less than two weeks left now so we are on the home stretch! I'm very excited to get home for Christmas now. This week we only have classes Monday and Tuesday as the rest of the week is a bank holiday or something like that. The 6 of us are going to Salamanca on Friday so I am looking forward to that.

Until next week!

Grace xx
